Who is Mulan?
Mulan is the heroine of Disney's animated film of the same name. She takes her father's place in the army and is known for her courage, her quick thinking and her readiness to protect the people she loves. She is part of the Disney Princess lineup, even though she isn't a princess by birth.
How old is Mulan? Disney's Mulan (1998) doesn't say how old she is.
Mulan finds answers when the usual way doesn't work. In a game at home, you can capture that with a challenge that involves no fighting: build a river crossing, crack a secret signal or put together a team with different skills. This page covers Disney's animated version; the legend of Hua Mulan and other film versions have their own details.

Build a team for a tough challenge
Our own activity ideas inspired by the story — for drawing, toys and telling stories aloud.
- Think of a problem that strength alone can't solve, like getting friends across a river or finding a lost sign on a map. Draw three solutions and pick one together with your toys.
- Make a paper team badge. Have each member name a skill: spotting details, cheering others on, drawing maps. Which challenge will need everyone's help?
Talk about it together: How will each team member's skill help the team? Can the problem be solved in two different ways?

When solving puzzles is the fun part
For hunting down clues, our catalog has Papo Town Castle. For planning moves, there's Frozen Free Fall. Both are different from Mulan's story and from each other: in the first, you explore a castle; in the second, you match crystals into combinations.
We picked these apps for the activity. We haven't confirmed that this heroine appears in them.
Questions about the heroine
Why is Mulan a Disney Princess if she isn't a princess?
Disney includes Mulan in its Disney Princess collection as one of its heroines. Disney Princess is the name of that group of characters, not an exact description of her rank in the story.
How old is Mulan?
Disney's Mulan (1998) doesn't say how old she is. Lots of lists put her at 16, but we found no primary source behind that number, either in the film or in interviews with the filmmakers. It gets passed from site to site, so take it as a rough guess rather than an official Disney age.
