Who is Elsa?
Elsa is a heroine of Disney’s Frozen and Anna’s older sister. She can create snow and ice. In the first film, Elsa becomes Queen of Arendelle and learns to live with her unusual powers.
How old is Elsa? Elsa is 21 when she is crowned queen in Frozen (2013).
In the first Frozen, Elsa tries to hide her powers because she is afraid of hurting the people around her. Her bond with Anna helps her face that fear. After the movie, you can invent a kind of magic for your child’s own heroine: what will she have to learn, and whom will she ask for help? The sequel takes the sisters’ story further.

Design Elsa’s ice palace
Our own activity ideas inspired by the story — for drawing, toys and telling stories aloud.
- Draw an ice palace where every guest feels at home. Where will the warm room, the winter garden and Olaf’s spot go? Give each room its own snowflake pattern.
- Invent a magic power that seems like a nuisance at first and later helps your friends. How will the heroine learn to use it, and whom will she ask for help?
Talk about it together: What unusual skill might get in your heroine’s way at first and then help her friends?

How old is Elsa?
Elsa is 21 when she is crowned queen in Frozen (2013). The film never says it; the age comes from Jennifer Lee’s final shooting script, published by Walt Disney Animation Studios. A 2013 review gave her age as 18, but the script says 21. Frozen II (2019) is set three years later, which by our arithmetic makes her about 24.
